Ukraine has finally approved a bill that sets a tax rate for gambling following their legalization last year.
The Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy finally approved one of several bills proposing tax rates for Ukraine's new gambling sector. The Commission has approved a bill that will set a flat tax rate of 10% for all forms of gambling.
The bill initially proposed separate tax rates on the GGR for different types of games: 5% at bookmakers, 10% on online gambling and lotteries and 12.5% on slots. However, the committee decided to opt for a fixed rate of 10% for all types of games.
Operators will also pay 18% profit tax. Earnings of clients who exceed the minimum accumulated salary for eight months - currently 48,000 UAH (1,422 EUR) - will be taxed as income.
The new bill also removes a previous requirement that license fees for online games be set at three times higher than normal until an online player monitoring system is implemented.
The bill must continue to be approved by the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, and must be enacted by the president. However, the new gambling regulator in Ukraine has already approved the first gaming licenses. The Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL) has approved licenses for Spaceiks and Parimatch.
